Site Two – Braddock’s Grave

A short distance west of Fort Necessity on the north side of U.S. 40 is Braddock’s grave.  It was here on July 12, 1755, that Braddock died of his wounds suffered at the Battle of Monongahela and was buried beneath his famous road.  The site includes his impressive tomb, a short preserved section of the 1755 road, and a marker showing where the general was originally buried.  Also at the site are signs that discuss his campaign and the circumstances of his death.
